Italy 1922. Commercial cover mailed to Ennenda Switzerland, single franked by Victor Emmanuel III 7pi 20pa ovpt on 60c carmine, Scott# 58A. Tied by clear cds of POSTE ITALIANE COSTANTINOPOLI 22.3.22 with a similar strike alongside, with arrival cds of ENNENDA 27.III.22 on reverse. The cover received scarce 4-line red cachet in French of [BUREAU DE POSTE ITALIEN CONSTANTINOPLE / Afranchissement en Piastres admis par / le Bureau International de Berne / PAS TAXER] - meaning; it is permitted by the International Office in Bern to use Piaster stamps in franking - NOT TAXED. The cover very slightly reduced at bottom. Rare Exhibition item.

AUCTION
Egypt 1864. Mixed franking cover (with contents) from Cairo, addressed to the French Imperial Court at Aix France, franked by Napoleon III 10c pale brown and 40c pale orange, Scott# 25, 27, Ceres# 21b, 23a, tied by clear numeral obliterator (large numbers lozenge) 5080 of Alexandria. The cover was carried inland by the Posta Europea from Cairo to Alexandria. Both the French stamps and the cds of POSTA EUROPEA CAIRO 17 AGOS 64 (Smith type VI) were applied in Cairo (just touching the French stamps). Later in Alexandria the stamps were fully cancelled by the (5080), and cds of ALEXANDRIE EGYPTE 19 AOUT 64, red cachet of [PAQUEBOTS DE LA MEDITERRANEE] and black boxed PP were applied alongside. Very important mixed franking cover of the Posta Europea and the French post office in Alexandria. The cover is still mounted to its original display, from a Gold Medal exhibition collection.

Switzerland 1867. Single use of a scarce stamp on cover, the 30c Helvetia in blue shade (Scott# 56a, with catalogue value of $210 as loose used). Folded cover from Zurich to Italy bearing this rare stamp tied by cds of ZURICH 4.XII.67 with similar strike and boxed [PD] alongside. Five transit and arrival postmarks including arrival cds of TORINO 7 DIC 67 on reverse. Remarkable scarce cover.

Egypt 1863. Double page mixed franking folded entire from France to Cairo, franked by 10c pale brown and 40c pale orange, Scott# 25, 27, Ceres# 21b, 23a, tied by Paris star and cds of PARIS 6 OCT. 63. Arrival French P.O. cds of ALEXANDRIE - EGYPTE 16 OCT. 63 and also arrival blue cds of POSTA EUROPEA - ALESSANDRIA 17 OTTOBRE 63 (Smith type VI) on reverse. The letter is unfolded for display in an Exhibition collection, and the Posta Europea cds which was originally landed on both opening edges at the back of the letter is cut around and perfectly reconstructed at the top of the letter. Some stain marks, however remarkably important mixed franking letter of Posta Europea and the French post office in Alexandria. An Exhibition item for highly specialized collectors.

Transit French P.O. cds of ALEXANDRIE EGYPTE 20 FEVR 72 on reverse. Two French transit postmarks and arrival cds of BORDEAUX 1 MARS 72 also on reverse. Scarce twice French P.O. postmarked cover (Cairo & Alexandria). Few insignificant tone spots does not distract from such scarce cover.

VF mint OG hinged copy with INVERTED overprint (only 120 such stamps could exist of 2 panes of 60). Expertised twice on the back including Stanley Gibbons h/s. SG# 5a, Balian# 4a, Scott# 4a, NP# S4a. On arrival it was redirected ® to Oxon England and franked by HONG KONG KGVI $5 green & violet and RSW 10c violet (Scott# 165A, 178, SG# 160, 171) and tied by cds of REGISTERED HONG KONG 13 FE 49) with ® label No. 825A on reverse. Very unusual and rare cover.
